IATA certifies Air New Zealand and Hong Kong airport first under One ID

2026-10-29  Ian Fleming

IATA has named Air New Zealand and Hong Kong International Airport as the first holders of its One ID certification, awarded at the World Passenger Symposium in Macao on October 28, 2026. The pair are the first airline and first airport to be independently assessed against a common standard for digital identity, biometric processing and privacy. Certification is not a prize for installing facial-recognition gates. IATA’s certification framework assesses implementation controls, governance and system capability, and it expects decentralized identity, selective disclosure and interoperability alongside the hardware.
