From 2025, landlords will be able to scan digital identities via a QR code or NFC technology to verify a customer’s age. This means customers who choose to verify their age in this way will not have to disclose personal information, which is visible on driver’s licenses. Landlords will be able to choose from a number of digital verification service providers to check ages securely, with over 50 such companies already independently certified against the UK Digital Identity and Attributes Trust Framework.
