More than 150 million scans of U.S. and Canadian driver's licenses allegedly ended up on the dark web, according to investigative cybersecurity blog KrebsOnSecurity. ID Scan provides identity-authentication services to businesses, including car rental companies, bars and other retailers. According to federal lawsuits filed, customers at locations including Hertz, Thrifty Car Rental and a store in Las Vegas believe their personal information may have been compromised through the company's systems.
