Zoom, Tinder adopt Sam Altman-backed World ID to verify human users

2026-04-20  Per Henrikson

Zoom has partnered with the World system to introduce a verification layer within its meetings platform aimed at ensuring participants are real individuals rather than AI-generated avatars. The integration, known as World ID Deep Face, is designed primarily for enterprise and regulated environments, adding an extra level of assurance during sensitive interactions such as financial approvals, healthcare consultations and executive decision-making sessions, the company stated in a blog post. The integration also introduces a “Deep Face Waiting Room”, requiring users to verify their identity before entering meetings, while hosts can initiate additional checks during calls if required. Beyond video conferencing, Tinder is expanding the use of World ID globally following a pilot in Japan. Users on the platform will be prompted to verify their identity using the Orb system to receive a badge confirming they are real individuals. In select markets such as the United States and Japan, verified users may also receive incentives, including complimentary profile boosts.
