The foundation’s Australian Digital Trust Community Group submitted the response to a Department of Finance consultation on policy and regulatory settings for Commonwealth use of verifiable credentials, including a proposed Commonwealth VC Trust Framework. Verifiable credentials are the digital equivalent of a physical license or certificate: issued once, held in a phone-based wallet, and presented to a verifier who can cryptographically confirm it is genuine and untampered without contacting the original issuer each time.
