The National Registration Bureau (NRB) launched the wallet in Lilongwe on September 16. The platform hosts the digital national ID, digital birth certificate, digital marriage certificate and digital death certificate, allowing citizens to access and present their credentials through mobile devices. The wallet was developed by the NRB with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) under the Inclusive Digital Transformation for Malawi programme, with support from the European Union, Ireland and Norway.
