The Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) is a 20-character, alpha-numeric code based on the ISO 17442 standard. It provides a universally recognized identifier for legal entities, issued by qualified organizations in each country, with GLEIF's oversight. vLEI is a digital certificate1 that combines the LEI with Verifiable Credentials (VC) to confirm the identity of a company or other legal entity and the individuals belonging to it.
