Incode Launches DMV-Backed GovFaceMatch Identity Verification August 4, 2026 Incode has launched GovFaceMatch, an identity verification service that compares a live selfie with the portrait held in a participating US state motor vehicle record. The company says the service is now broadly available and can reach more than 95 percent of the US population through participating state systems. The verification flow asks a user to scan the barcode on a driver’s licence and capture a live selfie. GovFaceMatch sends the necessary data to the relevant motor vehicle agency, where the facial comparison is performed, and returns a match result in about 10 seconds. Incode positions the service as a higher-assurance alternative to checks that validate only document data or examine an uploaded image of a licence. The architecture is designed to limit the movement of government-held biometric information. Incode says it does not receive or store the portrait or biometric template held by the motor vehicle agency because the match takes place inside the agency’s environment. Users must give explicit consent, and facial data collected during the verification can be deleted immediately after the check.
