The digital driver’s license will be integrated into Germany’s existing government-issued digital ID system, allowing citizens to carry and present their driving credentials through a secure smartphone application. While adoption will be voluntary, the digital licenses will be legally recognized throughout Germany, with potential acceptance across other EU member states.
