Estonia has not yet fully delivered its final, certified EU Digital Identity Wallet but is actively in the building and testing phase. The state is on track to meet the European Commission’s mandatory deadline for member states to provide a working wallet, but their progress involves building upon an extensive, 20-year history of digital identities and existing national solutions, such as the Eesti app and Smart-ID. Their e-ID solutions are now integrated into the Eesti app, which launched in 2025.
