On Discord, these countermeasures were originally rolled out to specific regions. However, in a bid to protect teens online, the company plans to push this change worldwide starting next month. When the app is in "teen-by-default" mode, people can use the app as normal. However, every time they try to access a channel marked 18+, Discord will stop them and ask for age verification. This can either be a scan of their face via their camera or an identifying document. Once Discord verifies the user is over 18, they won't need to be asked a second time.
