App developers in Brazil, Australia, Singapore, and the U.S. states of Utah and Louisiana are now able to use the company’s updated Declared Age Range Application Programming Interface (API) to determine a user’s age range, according to Apple’s Tuesday announcement. The new software is currently in beta testing. In Singapore, Brazil and Australia, the app store will block the downloads on 18+ apps until users have had their age confirmed through “reasonable methods.” If the confirmation fails, the user will be blocked from downloading the app.
